Completed in 1895, George Vanderbilt's 250-room French château is a real life wonder. Enjoy a self-guided visit of the house that unveils a fresh look at how people lived and worked in America’s largest home. Also, explore the acres of beautiful gardens and grounds, designed by renowned landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, during your visit.
We walked around the gardens and stopped to smell the roses (all the roses were in bloom!) We also went into the Greenhouse and walked around. Then we had our self-guided tour, which took about an hour and a half! The house has 43 bathrooms alone! There's an indoor swimming pool, bowling alley and every room had a view either the front lawn or the Blue Ridge Mountains! The south side patio was also bigger than the 2 acres Vanessa and I currently live on. Insane!
I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen. Or, anyone who wants to see the biggest house in America.
My pictures aren't working well - but here's one from the website:
