Farmingdale native Tim Kubart was giddy as he won his first Grammy award Monday, taking home best children’s album for “Home.”

“This is awesome,” said Kubart, all smiles as he delivered his thanks at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles during the pre-telecast Grammys.

Kubart thanked the other nominees whom he calls friends and are all part of the “kindie” community — independent children’s music artists who release their music on their own and support each other’s efforts.

“I know this doesn’t make much sense,” said Kubart, after he thanked Chica the Chicken, his puppet co-host from the Sprout talk show “Sunny Side Up.”

Kubart also thanked his parents for supporting him, saying that without their help, “I never would have started.”

Following his acceptance speech, Kubart told Newsday he was most nervous about winning because “then I’d have to give a speech.”

He said his celebration would have to wait a bit. “I’m going to the big show after this — a Justin Bieber concert,” Kubart joked. “But tomorrow, I think I may have to get up early and go to Disneyland.”
