Hofstra is the second best school in the nation for media professionals, according to a new ranking system launched by LinkedIn that measures alumni career outcomes. Hofstra’s ranking was based on career outcomes for alumni from a variety of majors, including those from the Lawrence Herbert School of Communication, the Frank G. Zarb School of Business and Hofstra College of Liberal Arts & Sciences.
Hofstra ranks ahead of such institutions as Columbia, Yale, Cornell, Syracuse and Northwestern universities. New York University was ranked first. LinkedIn launched its rankings today.
LinkedIn, a business-oriented social networking service, ranked the best universities for eight professions based the percentage of graduates who report having desirable jobs in those fields. Desirable jobs are defined as those with companies that have the best hiring and retention rates among LinkedIn members.
Among 2012-13 graduates earning a bachelor’s degree from the Herbert School, 96 percent report being employed or pursuing graduate studies full-time. Nearly 30 percent accepted their jobs before they graduated.
