What a day!

Today I took the Golden Circle Class tour and it was amazing! We started in Nesjavellir, a high temperature geothermal area in the scenic landscape of Lake Pingvallavatn. We also went to the Pingvellir National Park, which was totally breathtaking. The park is where the Icelandic parliament was founded in 930 AD.

Later we went to the beautiful waterfall Gullfoss, where I was almost blown away. It was amazing, but so windy. There was a lunch break and then our guide took us to the hot springs of Geysir and Stokkur. That is where it got interesting...

The bus was warm and I kept falling asleep in between stops. Apparently the guide said to stand on a certain side of the geyser, as to not get wet. I missed this. I also didn't notice that there was wasn't a single person standing with me. So, the geyser came up and landed on me. Thankfully my coat is waterproof. The tour guide e found this particularly funny

The tour went to the Skalholt church, the ancient seat of the Icelandic bishops. We ended with the geothermal power plant. It w as a lovely day and I made some new friends from all over.
