First day of school

Washington DC Adventure!

Today we headed to Washington DC! It was slightly overcast, but that didn't stop us. First, we tried to get into Ford's Theater, but sadly it was sold out for the day. So, we walked down to see the MLK and FDR monuments. On the way we discovered that it was the Cherry Blossom festival! The trees were BEAUTIFUL! So, we walked around and took a TON of pictures. Next we headed to the MLK memorial, which was really well done! The statue is really beautiful and very different. After that we headed over to the FDR memorial, which was also beautiful! They used waterfalls throughout the entire thing to symbolize water throughout FDR's life. Very interesting! Next we headed over the Lincoln memorial (I just love giant Lincoln) and stopped to have our lunch on a park bench. Sadly, the reflecting pool is closed and it started to rain so we headed over to the Air and Space Museum and walked around there for a bit. They have a wonderful Orville and Wilbur Wright brothers exhibit. After a few hours there, we headed back to the car and drove out to the Macaroni Grill for dinner. Our final stop of the evening was to a different Ritas! A lovely day indeed!
