National Brownie Day!

(A very cute article that I found)

Today is National Brownie Day, and while many of the silly designated days cause us to roll our eyes at their ridiculousness, brownies really need this day.

You see, brownies are kind of like the meatloaf of the dessert world.

Everyone makes them, most people like them, but few people looooove them.

They're just the generic, I didn't-have-much-time, couldn't-think-of-anything-else excuse for a dessert that everyone falls back on. Sure you can dress them up with ice cream and the like, but on their own, they're usually not the most exciting of desserts.

The good news is they can become incredible stars of their own accord, you just have to do a little extra work to make them extra special.

So in honor of National Brownie Day, here are six amazing takes on brownies that are anything but bland:

Cheesecake Brownies The combination of the two is beyond brilliant. And really, cheesecake just makes everything better.

Mint Chocolate Brownies If you like peppermint patties, these brownies are your thing. They even have peppermint frosting. Delicious, and minty fresh breath too.

Oreo Crunch Brownies Need I say more? I dare you to use double-stuffed Oreos!

Bacon Salted Carmel Brownies Yep, bacon -- like cheesecake -- makes pretty much everything taste better, and these brownies are no exception. The sweet, the salty, the complete and utter deliciousness.

Peanut Butter Swirl Brownies Like a peanut butter cup but with a soft, cake-like twist. Add a cup of milk, and you almost have a complete meal.

Cookie Dough Brownies Kim shared this recipe awhile back, and life hasn't been the same since. These are simply amazing.

What is your favorite brownie recipe?
