First day of school

Hello Savannah!

Today we explored Savannah!

The day started with a trip to Juliette Gordon Low's birthplace. (She was the founder of Girl Scouts). It was a beautiful house and the tour was lovely! I learned a lot about Juliette Low and bought a new pin for my Girl Scout vest.

From there we went on a walking tour around town. The weather in Savannah is not that hot (it was only about 90 with the heat index) and there's a lot of shade, so it was a lovely walk. We saw all kinds of fun things including city hall, the city walk shopping center, several statues and monuments and the Savannah Bee Company. We spent about two hours wandering around (we only paid three hours on our parking meter) so we got back in the car and went to the Bonaventure Graveyard. (The Garden of Good and Evil movie was filmed there) We got a bit confused, but drove around for a bit and took some pictures.

Then we headed back to the main town and went to the Pirate House restaurant. It's the oldest house in Savannah and it's got a neat pirate history. We ate a HUGE lunch of hamburgers and ice cream and then headed back to the hotel.

We're spending the rest of the day organizing everything we bought throughout our entire trip and trying to pack the car for tomorrow. We head back to VA tomorrow (which takes about 8 1/2 hours) Then I head out to Chestertown on Thursday! Let the adventures continue!
