First day of school

chU c K ie2: i'm associating you with that song

ALLISTER LYRICS

"Scratch"

I've been sitting here for hours
Burned an image of you in my mind
Finding comfort in the words you say
But it's not the same
I know you're worth the wait
And I can't explain
What I'm going through inside
But I would turn away the world
Just to have you here with me tonight

We can take our time
Making sure that everything feels right
It won't be easy but I'm not afraid
You're so far away
We made our start from scratch
It's now or never but we can't look back
I need you with me for another day
You're so far away
Yeah far away

I've been sitting here forever
Your voice is resonating in my mind
Countless hours with you on the phone
And now I'm not alone
I know you're worth the wait
But I can't escape
What I'm going through inside
But i would turn away the world
Just to have you here with me tonight

We can take our time
Making sure that everything feels right
It won't be easy but I'm not afraid
You're so far away
We made our start from scratch
It's now or never but we can't look back
I need you with me for another day
You're so far away
Yeah far away

I know there's no time left for second chances
Still we're right despite these circumstances
You've changed me more than you could ever know
So we will just hang on until tomorrow
So take my hand, don't ever let me go
This time it's right

We can take our time
Making sure that everything feels right
It won't be easy but I'm not afraid
You're so far away
We made our start from scratch
It's now or never but we can't look back
I need you with me for another day
You're so far away
Yeah far away
First day of school

Beth left us pretzels and frosting... a great weekend indeed.

Warning: LONG ENTRY! So, if you’re easily bored, or don’t care about my crazy weekend with CTYers, then stop reading now. However, if you want to hear about all our fun, read on!

Friday: So, it begins at 4am on Friday morning when I’m waiting at the Merrick train station to pick up Allie and Alex from UMass. However, they missed Merrick and ended up in Bellmore, so I drove over there and picked them up. We arrived back at school, hung out for a bit (looking at my scrapbook and room, talking, etc) and finally around 5am went to bed.

We got up around 10:30, showered, got dressed and packed up. Then we traveled over to the student center for breakfast and continued on to Dutch Treats to get sandwiches and snacks. We walked back to the room, got in the car and headed over to Becca’s. Oh, it’s important to the story to include that we bought a box of doughnuts. So, we start driving but we got slightly lost and ended up in Queens. Never fear though, I asked for directions at a gas station and before we knew it we were stuck in traffic on the G.W. Bridge. We ended up playing this word game called, “Ghost” (it was interesting, but I was no good at it) We also ate doughnuts and twistables (which looked like play-doe) but nonetheless, we arrived at Becca’s around 3ish, prime leaving school time.

After a quick potty stop Alex and I bid farewell to Allie and Becca and headed off to get Kim in PA. It took about three and a half hours in which we talked, listened to music, sang loudly, ate our sandwiches, and I slept. We arrived at Kim’s around 7ish, used the bathroom, met some of her friends and headed off to Ohio. Kim started driving, then myself and finally Alex. We arrived at our hotel in Ohio at 2:30 AM, beating Allie, Becca, and Matt by 20 minutes (apparently they got lost in Newark and in Pittsburg) Here’s the great part about the doughnuts: when Alex went to get his bag out of the car he opened the side door and the box of doughnuts fell out and slipped all over the ground! OH NO! It was so sad! He ended up rolling them down the parking lot, which was pretty funny. So, we checked in the hotel, found our two rooms had connecting doors (hotness!) talked for a bit, and collapsed.

Saturday: Becca was up around 9ish and the rest of us girls followed and were ready by 10:30. At 10:45 we woke the boys up, but not gently. We all jumped on their beds shouting “TIME TO GET UP!” It was quite fun. We all got ready and then headed over to Bob Evan’s for breakfast (basically IHop meets Friendly’s). We all had the Farmers Breakfast, which was tasty. So, we returned to the hotel and Becca went on an adventure to find wrapping paper, tape and scissors to wrap our teacups. While she was gone Matt stole my homework and I had to wrestle him for it while on the phone with Becca picking out doughnuts. It was pretty funny. Anyway, Becca returned and we wrapped gifts and then got ready for the wedding.

We took two cars because it was about a 10 minute drive to the church. Alex said it best, “It was the wedding that you would expect for Beth” - small, cute, full of friends and family, and fun. The ceremony was about 45 minutes, which a few jokes, a computer reference (I still don’t get that one), and when they kissed, the groomsmen held up numbers. The party was held in the basement under the church and was very family oriented. They served fruit and sandwiches, had a nifty drink fountain and two types of cake! (YUM!) They had a slide show, a crossword puzzle (we did it for real, and then made up a CTY version), and people singing. However, there was no dancing, which was sad. Alex wanted to dance with some old ladies. Also, if you wanted the bride and groom to kiss, you had to sing a song. So, of course we found the word “love” in “American Pie” and broke out in song with Jenny. We also did the hamster dance, which led people to believe that we were crazy. Anyway, the wedding ended with Beth and Nick leaving and us blowing bubbles. We then caught up with Jenny and decided to meet up for dinner in a bit.

After a brief period of being lost (we weren’t that lost, just a bit) we returned to the hotel and Alex taught me to dance. I learned the fox trot, the rumba, and a few other moves. It was fun. We all changed and then hung waiting for Jenny. We called Jess, David, Bobstier, Barter and a few others. Jenny called around 8ish and we all headed over to Skyline (this place apparently only in a few places, but know for their chili. Becca loves it) We met up not only with Jenny, but her parents and godparents. We all ate their chili (pasta and hotdogs mostly) and it was interesting. I think it had cinnamon in it, I couldn’t really tell. But, we all had fun hanging out and talking. After a bit the Secor parents left and we hung out with Jenny for a bit. Then we all stuffed into Becca’s car and drove back to the hotel.

It was around 11ish when we got back and we all hung out. Becca wrote in her journal, Kim read, Alex and Allie listened to music and Matt and I did homework. Becca and Kim ended up going to bed shortly after that, but the rest of us weren’t that tired, so we went into the other room and hung out. Alex and Allie were drawing on each other, which was really funny to see. At one point Alex labeled Allie’s ribs and wrote on the forth one, “If found, please return to Adam.” We took pictures. Alex also ended up making out with my cookie monster at one point and let’s not even talk about my popple. Around 1:30 Alex and Allie went to bed, but Matt and I stayed up and talked until 2:30AM… it was great to talk with him again. J

Sunday (TODAY!): We got up at 7ish and by 7:45 we were downstairs eating breakfast. At 8:15AM we said goodbye and headed on our way. Matt drove first, so we sang, talked, and ate for fours hours until we arrived at Pittsburg. The best part was that while we were driving to his dorm room we were all singing “American Pie” at the top of our lungs – it rocked! We got to his dorm around 12ish, had a quick pit stop and went on our way. After about 45 minutes of driving we stopped for lunch at Panarea bread and had potatoes soup in a bread bowl – sooo good! Next Kim was dropped off and then I drove the rest of the way home.

I arrived back at the dorm around 9:30, so it took about 5 hours. It wasn’t that bad at all, but I don’t really care of the G.W. Bridge, which was backed up both ways… not cool at all.

So, I had an amazing weekend full of amazing people and amazing adventures. J
