Okay, so I’ve learned two things today:
- I’m never having kids. Really though, not going to happen.
- I’ve learned that I don’t want to teach. I made the right decision not being an education major. I enjoy what I’m doing now and I like being an RA at school, but I could never do this everyday.
Our second set of activities were cancelled tonight because of thunder and lightening and that meant that we had hall time from 7:30 – 9:30 instead of 8:45-9:30. Whoa. That’s all I have to say. These kids have so much energy it’s crazy! Showers were done early, so we played cards, I taught them how to crochet, colored, played ASAP, spit, slap jack, a few other things and basically ran around. Again, whoa.
Tomorrow starts our nights off (we’re off from 10pm – 1:30 am) so woohoo for that! Even if I just get out for an hour or so, it’s nice.
The whole staff (RAs, TAs, instructors and everyone else) are playing “assassins” or “survivor” as they’re calling it here. Everyone gets a name of a person and a word to get them to say. If they get them to say that word, then they get that person’s paper and try to get their person. It’s fun, but I’m out already. Andrew got me with the word “Weasel.” How you might ask? He ended up drawing a picture of a toilet (all he can draw) and labeled with “Weasel.” When he was leaving I told him he forgot his picture, which he responded with, “It has a name you know!” Yeah, so I’m out, but now I’m a spy and helping everyone else. I helped Andrew get Sherief out (I had him) with the word “Napoleon Dynamite.” An interesting game indeed.
Also, I’m doing the “Green glowing kids” tomorrow in Dad’s class, which should be tons of fun! Vanessa is helping out too.
I’m an exhausted so I must crash now. Have a good night all. J
